Obama Condemns Trump Administration's Investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar
Former President Barack Obama issued a forceful denunciation of the Trump administration's federal criminal investigation into Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar, who faces accusations of immigration fraud related to her citizenship status. Obama characterized the investigation as politically motivated and called it something that should "outrage all Americans."
Left-leaning outlets frame this as Obama defending Omar against what they characterize as a politically motivated prosecution by Trump, drawing parallels to Trump's previous questioning of Obama's own citizenship legitimacy.
Center outlets report Obama's statement as a significant intervention by a former president in an ongoing criminal investigation, noting his accusation that the administration is using legal proceedings for political purposes.
