U.S. Measles Cases Surpass 2025 Total, Reach 35-Year High

The United States has recorded more than 2,300 measles cases in the first seven months of 2026, surpassing the entire 2025 annual total and marking the highest number of cases in 35 years. Major outbreaks have occurred in South Carolina, Utah, and Arizona, with the CDC noting that approximately 93% of patients were unvaccinated or had unknown vaccination status.
