Massive wildfires force tens of thousands to evacuate in France and Spain

Large uncontrolled wildfires in southwestern France and central Spain have forced approximately 87,000 people to evacuate from their homes and vacation areas. Authorities ordered evacuations from regions including the Gironde and Cap Ferret Peninsula, with some residents fleeing by boat. Several firefighters have been killed in the ongoing efforts to combat the fires.
